All families within the Hamwic Education Trust now have access to the Online Safety Hub. The Online Safety Hub is a brand-new online resource with lots of expert advice and guidance to help you manage your child's safety online as a parent. It includes information on the latest hot topics when it comes to keeping children safe, such as how to manage your child's screen time, understanding the latest gaming platforms, what they mean for your child’s safety and lots more.

CEOP is a law enforcement agency and is here to keep children and young people safe from sexual exploitation and abuse. Please complete the form on the link below to start your report to one of CEOP’s Child Protection Advisors.

Childline Reporting
The Internet Watch Foundation (IWF) are an organisation dedicated to removing nude images of under 18s from the internet, they have specialist training and lots of experience to do this.
Childline and IWF work together to run Report Remove and support you. The IWF will assess your report and work to make sure images and videos are taken down and Childline is here to help you with anything that’s happening. Only the IWF will see what you report using Report Remove.

Safety and Security
Your child’s safety is our number one priority. For this reason, we ask for your help in these ways:
Maintain up-to-date contact information
We need to know how to reach you, or a person named by you, who will care for your child in an emergency. Please inform the school office promptly of any changes, so we can ensure our records are up-to-date.
We will always try to contact you if we feel that your child needs urgent medical attention. In the event of real emergencies, we will arrange for your child to be taken to hospital as well as contacting either you or a named contact.
Let us know about changes to collection arrangements
We will not allow your child to leave the school premises during the school day unless you have told us to do so. If you have made arrangements for your child to be collected by someone else, please make sure you inform the school.
Follow our procedures for visitors
For security reasons, we ask that all parents, carers and visitors use the main entrance and report to reception. No adults (apart from school staff) should use the children’s entrances to come into school.
For fire safety reasons, all parents, carers and visitors staying in the building for any length of time will be asked to sign in on arrival and sign out when leaving the building.
All visitors are required to wear a visitor’s badge whilst they are on site, so our children will know you are not a stranger.
Mobile Phones
Introduction
At Wordsworth Primary School the welfare and well-being of our pupils is paramount. This policy on the use of mobile phones in school and has been drawn up in the best interests of pupil safety and staff professionalism.
Use of mobile phones
Pupils
- Pupils are not permitted to have mobile phones at school or on trips
- If in the rare event of a parent wishing for his/her child to bring a mobile phone to school to contact the parent after school:
- The parent must put their request in writing to the Head Teacher.
- The phone must be switched off, handed in to the class teacher first thing in the morning and collected by the child at home time (the phone is left at the owner’s own risk).
- Mobile phones brought to school without permission will be confiscated and must be collected by the parent.
Staff
- All staff must have their phones on ‘silent’ or switched off during class time.
- All staff may not make or receive personal calls during teaching time/contracted hours unless it is work related. If there are extreme circumstances (eg. acutely sick relative) the member of staff should make the Head Teacher aware of this and will have discussed the need to make an emergency call.
- Use of phones must be limited to non-contact time/lunchtime when no children are present.
- Phones must be kept out of sight (eg. drawer, handbag, staff cupboard) when staff are with children.
- Phones will never be used to take photographs of children or to store their personal data.
Parents & Other Visitors
- We request that parents do not use mobile phones in the school building/grounds.
- Mobile phones must never be used to take photographs in the school building or grounds, unless it is a special occasion such as Christmas Performances or Sports Day. In this instance parents must agree they are for their own private use and they must agree not to publish these photos on any website/ social networking site.
