Year 5

Hello and welcome to our Year 5 webpage!  Our teachers are Miss Harvey and Mr Walsh (5H), Mrs Prest  (5P) and Mr Davies (5D). We are also supported by Mrs Davis and Miss Hayward in 5H, Miss Day in 5P and Mrs Al Disi 5D.

Summer 2 2019

Our topic this half-term is "Future World". We will be considering how we can have a positive impact on our planet.

We will also be taking part in The Wildlife Trusts '30 Days of Wild' where we will be set a daily challenge to get out in the wild. Look out for the weekend challenges. It would be lovely to see some photos of what you get up to!

We would like to say a huge well done to our Year 5 girls who took part in the tournament at Goals on Monday 3rd June. They finished 3rd in the Plate Finals, after only a few sessions of training. Thank you to Mr Walsh and Miss Day for taking the girls to Goals!

Well done Cerys, Chloe, Chelsea, Lexi, Evelyn and Rose!

Another giant well done to the winners of this year's Poetry Slam!

3rd Place - Ellie

Things to remember:

  • We have daily reading homework. Please record your reading at home in your homework diary.
  • We have weekly spellings homework - this may be a list of words to learn, or a spelling rule to practise.
  • Weekly Maths homework will come home on a Wednesday, and will be due in on the following Wednesday.

The children are loving taking part in the Times Tables Rockstars challenge! Each child has been given a log-on for the website: https://ttrockstars.com/. They are able to practise their times tables while playing tournaments, and then in class they will be tested four times a week on their allocated times tables for that week. The aim of this incentive is to help children answer problems quickly. As they get quicker they will be given a different 'rock status'.
