Welcome to 4N – affectionately known at… ‘The Fluffy Mummy’ class!
If you are wondering where we got our inspiration from to call our class, ‘The Fluffy Mummy’ class, look no further than the humungous, lovely cuddly teddy bear that comes out with a member of 4N every Friday, armed with a diary and illustration notebook. Our class author is Jeremy Strong and we were very motivated as a class to name our well loved teddy bear after a book that he has written. He wrote: There is a pharaoh in my bath! and the class decided that the fluffy part was down to how he looked rather than a gory Egyptian description!
As a class we have read the book, ‘There is a pharaoh in my bath! which we have loved, especially all the details of mummification! The class were keen to know what happened to Sennapod and find out how he came back to life! Read the book if you want to find out more details…
We are currently diversifying and reading a very different style of book by a different author. This time our author is David Walliams and his book, ‘The World’s Worst Children’ which is absolutely hilarious… This book is a collection of very funny short stories about some fascinating characters and their filthy habits which they get up to! Some of these characters are called: Nigel Nit Boy, Petula Perpetual-Motion and Peter Picker, to name but a few!
As mentioned at the start, every Friday we award one child with our ‘Star of the Week’ certificate, along with Fluffy Mummy, his diary and his illustration notebook. The chosen child is also given 25 housepoints for following the class rules and being a great role model. They are given the privilege of being the line leader which is the most popular position in the line! Fluffy Mummy is usually a very healthy eater and tends to enjoy his fruit and vegetables, but he is not too fussy, pretty tidy and generally very easy to look after. He is a sociable bear and always likes to be involved in any activities both inside and outside…
We have recently started participating in online ‘Timestables Rock Stars Battles’ with the other Year 4 classes and one Year 5 class. The ‘Battle of the Bands’ takes place online every week and will run from 3:20pm on Monday afternoon, until 7:30pm on Sunday evening.
In our first online battle, ‘The Fluffy Mummy’ class were victorious against a Year 5 class, which they were extremely proud of as they had worked hard. We won a ‘Class Champions’ certificate and received an extra 15 minutes of playtime as a whole class reward! Let’s see if we can keep up our winning streak!
Our class ‘Goal’ is to grow and develop in our independence and problem solving skills, including using reasoning and class strategies to support our learning. We have been using the 5 B’s in class to help us: Book, Brain, Board, Buddy and Boss. We will continue to focus on these as we move into the Spring Term.
