Design & Technology

Our aim for Design and Technology at Wordsworth is to develop resilient learners equipped with skills that allow them to become independent, creative, critical thinkers.

Across Key Stage 1 and 2, DT units have a clear focus and outcomes are built over a series of lessons resulting in an end product. Children are shown how to plan and implement a project from beginning to end using the research, design, make and evaluate model.

By the end of their primary schooling, this process will have become internalised and enable our children to use these steps when problem-solving in the future.

At Wordsworth, DT will also be used to enhance other learning objectives (i.e. making something to support instruction writing) giving the children meaningful experiences that support and enhance learning across the curriculum.

We have already completed some amazing projects here at Wordsworth including our recent lock-down project (funded by British Science Week). See https://vimeo.com/517212619

As well as this, take a look at Year 4’s String Instrument project. Don’t they look great!
