Coronavirus Updates

22nd May 2020

Parents and carers

I attach our new Home School Agreement which sets out the detailed arrangements for the reopening of our school for Years R, 1 and 6 together with the continued provision for our Key worker and Vulnerable group. We have made this as comprehensive as possible. Can I remind you that if your child is not in one of these groups then they need to remain at home and access the on-line learning which will continue.

At the heart of our planning and preparation is the safety of our children and staff. We are satisfied that we have minimised risks by reducing social mixing and for ensuring social distancing is maintained as much as we can within a school setting. As we gradually reopen, we will constantly assess and modify all aspects of new school life to ensure the continuing safety of all in school. We will also be carefully monitoring the

national debate, the Government guidelines and the advice from our unions to inform our decision making.

I will email you again on Monday 1st June to either confirm the current opening scheduling or a revised schedule if plans change nationally.

Have a good half term everyone!

Wordsworth Superheroes

During the lock down due to Covid 19 we have learnt many things.  One of those being that Superheroes are not just those dressed up in costumes wearing their pants on the outside!

Our Superheroes are much closer to home.  We recognise the bravery and resilience of the children who are still coming in to school whilst their heroes (parents) go to work on the frontline every day.  We recognise every child and family that have stayed home to save lives.  We recognise the staff who have worked tirelessly to deliver fun and interesting resources for home learning and kept valuable contact with our families

throughout the school closure.  We recognise our colleagues at Team Spirit and Chartwells for their continued valuable support.

We recognise Mrs Kaur who is a Teaching Assistant in Year 2 who has made scrubs for the NHS at Southampton General Hospital.

You are our Superheroes.   Keep up the great work!

Until we can safely reunite our school community again please take care and stay safe.

Supporting your child's mental health and wellbeing.

Is your child showing signs of anxiety and stress?  Are you struggling to know how to best support them?

We have uploaded some resources and links to give ideas on how you might support and manage your child's  mental health during the current lock down.

You can find resources under the Teaching and Learning tab.

We will do our best to upload a range of information and resources to support you and update this as regularly as we can.

We hope this helps.  Stay safe and we will be together again soon.

Home Learning Key Update

Dear Parents,

We hope you are safe and well and enjoyed the sunshine while it lasted!

We have been reviewing our Home Learning provision as we want to ensure we are providing enough choice for your children but not overwhelming you or them. Helping to ensure everyone is happy and healthy is our priority. We have therefore written some Key Messages for parents and you will find these on your child's Year Group pages. Please have a look when you get a chance.

We hope you enjoyed the WW staff video 'Move your feet.' We are thinking of you all and missing the children but we hope that we are providing some support for you in this difficult time. Please let us know if we can help or support you further in anyway.

It has come to our attention that some families have unlocked a free week’s trial of an extra area of the Class Dojo website called ‘Class Dojo beyond School’. To do this, families have been asked to enter payment details, and when the trial has ended they have been charged for the service.

The basic Class Dojo website that we have invited parents to use is free of charge, and you will not be asked to enter any payment details to use it. You do not need to sign up for this extra area, as teachers will only be using the basic site.

If you were asked to enter payment details when joining, it is vital that you cancel your trial of ‘Class Dojo Beyond School’, otherwise you will be charged.

Wordsworth Primary School continues to provide care for our essential key worker families.  This week we have seen an increase in numbers requiring our service as they return to work for the NHS.  Today sees 22 children in school keeping to our social distancing and regular hand washing protocols.  Well done children.
