Explosive Earth!

This half term in 3J, we have been learning all about volcanoes in our topic - Explosive Earth! We have made our own volcanoes out of plastic bottles, newspaper, cardboard and papier mache. Later in the week, we have started to paint them. In our topic lessons, we have been using lots of different types of food to make models of different parts of the Earth. We cut an apple in half to show the layers of the Earth and we peeled an orange to show how the Earth's crust is broken up into tectonic plates. Finally, we used biscuits and cream to demonstrate how tectonic plates move and how they make volcanoes and earthquakes. It has been a very EXPLOSIVE few weeks!
