WORDSWORTH PRIMARY SCHOOL

Transition Days

Summer Transition 2024

Stay and Plays 1 & 2 are smaller groups, so timings will follow nearer the time; these will be AM sessions though.

Date

Activity

Wednesday 19th June 2024

Stay and Play Session 1

We would like parents to stay  to this session as we find it helps the children to settle in more if they can see their parents with them in their new school environment.

Children will meet some members of their class and be with their class teacher for the morning.

Wednesday 26th June 2024

Stay and Play Session 2

We would like to give the parents an option to stay again to this session.

Children will be with some members of their class again and be with their class teacher for the morning.

Wednesday 3rd July 2024

Stay and Play Session 3

The whole class will be together.  We would like to encourage the children to stay independently to this session.  The parents/carers will then be able to meet the wider staff in the forecourt at the front of the school, including Shirley Library, Governors and Dolce.

Home Visits
Home visits will be carried out on 3rd, 4th and 5th of September. Your class teacher will be in touch with you before the end of the summer term to give you your date and time. These short visits are a lovely opportunity for our teachers to meet your children in their own environment and to talk to you in more detail about your child and any individual needs they have.

Half Day
To further help the children get used to starting school and their new routine, new Year R's will attend for half a day on:
  • Friday 6th September for morning and lunch (9am - 12.45pm).  You can bring in a packed lunch from home or choose a school dinner.

Full Day                                                                                                                                                                                        Monday 9th September 8.40am - 3.10pm normal school day.  Everyone in Year R will start today. Parents/carers can bring their child into the Year R garden and to the door where the teacher will greet you and your child.
